Aluminum has been used for custom signs since the metal first became commercially available and affordable at the beginning of the 20th century. It is ideal for both indoor and outdoor signage because it’s lightweight, corrosion resistant, easily formed, rigid yet still flexible, highly reflective, non-toxic, durable, recyclable, and naturally attractive; inherent features that other materials simply don’t have.
L&H Sign Company has the technical depth, creativity and fabrication experience to design and build everything from simple merchant signs to complex architectural signage solutions for companies throughout the U.S. using aluminum, steel, stone, brick, glass and a variety of other durable materials.
We specialize in custom interior and exterior wayfinding signage, illuminated and non-illuminated monument signs, retail store signage, patient care signage, bank signs, scoreboards, dimensional logos and lettering, digital merchandising systems, and a wide range of other products that will enhance the visibility of your brand.
Aluminum is an amazingly versatile metal. It can be cast or extruded into an unlimited number of shapes. It’s very ductile and can be rolled to as thin as 0.006 mm and still will not let light in or out. It is easily welded and joined or anodized, and can be cut, bent and shaped into everything from soda cans, to aircraft parts and structural components, to wire for the nation’s power grid, to bridge decks and entire building facades.
Aluminum is ideal for exterior sign applications because it’s naturally waterproof, non-combustible, rust and corrosion resistant, and has thermal properties that keep it cool to the touch even in the highest temperatures. It won’t split, rot or warp, and is easy to maintain because it never needs to be scraped and repainted (like steel) or sanded and stained (like wood).
In interior spaces, aluminum is the ultimate material for durability and aesthetics. The signs are lightweight, highly customizable, and easy to install and move around whenever the need arises. The metal is ideal for use in wayfinding signage frames, as well as for custom brushed aluminum signs that can be printed with fade- and abrasion-resistant UV inks.
L&H Sign Company fabricates premium-quality aluminum signs that will complement any indoor or outdoor environment and are designed to last indefinitely with proper care.
Highlights from Our Portfolio
- Roschel Performing Arts– We fabricated entrance signage designed by Poulin+Morris for Roschel Performing Arts center in Lancaster, PA, which captured First Place in the Sign of the Times International Sign Contest. In a feat of engineering, multiple rolling functions were used to create the 2-inch-thick, plate aluminum dimensional letter forms which followed the radius of the building’s circular entryway.
- Philadelphia Zoo – We designed, fabricated and installed a large, distinctive 3D MIG-welded aluminum and granite sign featuring a lion at the entry plaza of the Philadelphia Zoo, along with new wayfinding signage for the property’s upgrade. The monument structure is made up of aluminum panels that were precisely fitted and welded together.
- Reading Hospital and Medical Center – Mounting letters on signs with unattractive posts is not the only solution. The signage for this emergency room required maximum visibility from long distances, so illuminated channel letters were mounted on a perforated aluminum structure which provided a sturdy mounting platform, but one that visually fades into the background.
- Nationwide Children’s Hospital – The original design documents called for a custom extrusion for the brushed aluminum side structures on the monument signs for Nationwide Children’s Hospital. L&H Sign Company was able to save time and achieve the same design intent by brakeforming them instead. Precision brakeforming can produce a variety of shapes.
